ROSE BUD: Council meeting

Here are the takeaways from tonight‘s town Council meeting

Mayor Gorham opened up the meeting with a short prayer.

1) Motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Motion passed 4-0

2)Mayor went over both monthly & YTD financials and reported that the Town is in good shape. Motion was made and seconded to approve the financial report as presented. Motion passed 4-0

3) In old business Mayor reported that the construction project at the park is going well. He stated that Sponsorship sales have been good and that we will continue to sell them throughout the year.

4) Previous Council has decided a few years ago that when the new stage at the park was completed that it would be named the Teddy Riedel Memorial Stage. At the Council meeting in September Council gave permission to the Mayor to sell sponsorships at the park for all the new improvements. Mayor advised Council that S & S Security Alarms, Joey Smith Owner stepped up and purchased the stage lifetime sponsorship. For a one time 10k donation S & S Security Alarms will get a sign on the front of the stage and it will be officially named the S & S Security Alarms, Teddy Riedel Memorial Stage in honor of the local legend. If S & S Goes out of business the sponsorship reverts back to the City to resell. Motion was made and seconded to approve the sponsorship. Motion passed 4-0

5) Librarian Gina Anderson reported they are doing food for fines through the month of November. Donate non perishable items between now and November 30 and recode forgiveness for fines. (This does not include lost items).

We are also sponsoring "Be a Santa to a Senior" - we will have a tree at the library with requested gifts from local seniors. Come pick a "bulb" off the tree and purchase the gift. Return it to the library along with the bulb by December 16th. This is a program sponsored by Home Instead.

Check out our calendar on our website - and follow us on fb as we have a lot of programs planned.

6) Street superintendent Todd Mcafee reported that all is going well with the building project and that he will begin Christmas decorating next week.

7) Police chief Steven Schaumleffel reported that all is going well with the police department. He also stated that he received a quote for security cameras at the park and will be getting two more bids per internal policy.

8)Mayor thanked the Rose Bud school district, speakers, and everyone that attended the veterans ceremony this past weekend. It was another huge success!

9) Mayor announced that the annual Christmas parade will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 6 PM. Afterwards we will have our annual chili cook off and program at the city park. This year‘s theme will be Christmas Characters. The winning float as voted on by the people will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Rose Bud better business of their choice. This year we will also have a Christmas open house going all day with huge sales from some of our local merchants! Mayor reminded business storefronts that they will once again have the Christmas decorating contest. The business with the best store front lit up as voted on by the people will receive a free entry to the 2023 Rose Bud better business program. Mayor also reminded everyone that the community Christmas service will be held on December 14 at 6 PM at the Rose Bud Assembly of God. Brother Daniel Young from Mt. Bethel will be preaching this year‘s message.

All in all it was a great meeting. Make sure you stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the Christmas parade. As always if you have any questions feel free to reach out to Mayor Gorham personally at 501-250-6398. Good night and God bless!
