Central Arkansas Library system recently issued by the following announcement.
CALS is beginning a two-month series of activities centered around Tim O’Brien’s classic The Things They Carried through NEA Big Read: CALS that will include reading groups, panel discussions, and a movie series.
The kickoff event includes a performance by the Writeous Poets, clips from Vietnam veterans as part of CALS’s Vietnam War Project, film trailers, and more information about the NEA Big Read: CALS events.
CALS is one of 78 communities nationwide participating in the NEA Big Read through June 2020. An initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest, the NEA Big Read is designed to broaden our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. CALS activities will run between March 5 and April 28 and will feature activities in all 15 branch libraries.
