Central Arkansas LIbrary System recently issued by the following announcement.

Celebrate the legacy of Arkansas native Rudy Ray Moore with Rudy Tuesdays! An American comedian, singer, actor, and film producer, Moore developed the character Dolemite during his early comedy records. These recordings often featured him delivering profanity-filled rhyming poetry, which later earned Moore the nickname “the Godfather of Rap.” Moore used the success from these records to finance four movies featuring Dolemite, described as some of the great blaxploitation movies of the 1970s. Dolemite was “the ultimate ghetto hero: a bad dude, profane, skilled at kung-fu, dressed to kill and hell-bent on protecting the community from evil menaces. He was a pimp with a kung-fu-fighting clique of prostitutes and he was known for his sexual prowess.” (Los Angeles Times)
