City of Lonoke issued the following announcement on June 10.

SHARE: On May 28, the City of Lonoke Police Department posted a warning in lieu of a recent rash in vehicle thefts. Unfortunately, these criminals are still at work here and Lonoke doesn’t appear to be alone. Other small cities are seeing a recent uptick in vehicle theft. The common denominator are easy targets; unlocked vehicles and early morning activity. Please help get the word out and lets all work together to harden the community against this type of crime.

1) Ensure that your car windows are up and the doors are locked

2) Remove purses, wallets, and all valuables from the vehicle

3) Don’t leave guns in your vehicle over night

4) Park in a well lit area if possible. Keep a porch light on or use motion lights.

5) Never leave your keys inside your vehicle.

6) Report street light outages through the myEntergy app

7) REPORT SUSPCIOUS ACTIVITY IMMEDIATELY!

If you have trail cameras, video doorbells, or security lights ensure they are installed and working properly. Any video feed we have is helpful. The quicker we can identify these criminals the quicker we can hold them accountable.
