Two students in the molecular biosciences doctoral degree program at Arkansas State University received awards at a national academic conference in recognition of their work.

Sepideh Mohammadhosseinpour of Iran and Gaurav Gajurel of Nepal were invited to give oral presentations to The Society for In Vitro Biology, when it met in San Diego.

Mohammadhosseinpour received the “2022 Gordon Sato and Wally McKeen Award” and also second place “Oral Presentation Award” for her talk “Prenylated Stilbenoids Increase the Apoptotic Effect of Paclitaxel in Triple-negative Breast Cancer Cells.”

Gaurav received the “2022 John S. Song Award” for his research “Comparative Assessment of Antioxidant Activity of Prenylated Stilbenoid-Rich Extracts from Elicited Hairy Root Cultures of Three Cultivars of Peanut.”

Dr. Fabricio Medina-Bolivar, professor of plant metabolic engineering and member of the research faculty at the Arkansas Biosciences Institute on the A-State campus, is the students’ adviser.
